In 1922 two brothers JW and AJ Billes bought Hamilton Tire and Garage Ltd in Toronto for $1800.00 and the following year they moved the location and under a new name formed Canadian Tire Corporation.  The 1st catalogue was published in 1928 with tire values on one side and the Ontario roadmap on the other side.  In 1934 a store in Hamilton is the first designated Canadian Tire Associate Store.  This is the beginning of the nationwide Dealer-operated network of Canadian Tire Associate stores.  The 1st gas bar opened in 1958 and the customers received discount coupons which is known as Canadian Tire Money.  The 1st distribution centre opened in 1963 in Toronto.  Canadian Tire celebrates 50 years and opens the 1st store in the province of Saskatchewan and has grown Coast to Coast in Canada.  2011 Canadian Tire acquires The Forzani Group Ltd with its multi banners. Today more than 90% of the Canadian population lives within 15 minutes of a Canadian Tire Store.
