Positive start to the new year as sales activity and prices improve over 2013

Two consecutive years of strong migration levels are expected to support improving housing demand this year, but at a slower pace.  However with not significant change in the supply situation this month prices continue to rise at a higher than expected levels.

The detached benchmark price for January is $476,700 an increase of 9.11% year-over-year. The apartment benchmark price is $280,600 an increase of 11.66% and the attached benchmark price is $308,100 an increase of 8.72%.  Overall sales for the month totaled 1,440 units, compared with 1,229 during the same period last year.
