Homebuyers' Confidence Holds Steady Despite Global Turmoil

Despite recent turmoil in the global economy, Calgarians are showing confidence in the long term prospects for the city and are taking advantage of affordable and stable home prices.  Gains in the housing market have been very gradual but we are seeing signs of improvements.  Our province's growth is expected to outperform the national average and this will help consumer confidence in Calgary and Alberta.

The detached benchmark price for September is $400,000 an increase of 2.56% year-over-year.  The condominium benchmark price is $260,000 an decrease of 1.89%. Overall sales for the month totaled 1,465 units, compared with 1,323 during the same period last year.
